115 Rheinbach area participants traveled to Rhinebeck to live in the homes of Rhinebeck families, during summer 2008.
Rehearsals wer scheduled here for three concerts. The final "Hearts Across the Water" concert is performed with the musicians from both countries, including the Exchange theme song, Handels' "The Brotherhood of Man". Excursion highlights include visiting historic, cultural, government, and scenic places such as:
Albany, New York: Visit the NY State Museum on the Empire State Plaza, see the Captial Building and shop at the Mall. Empire State Plaza NY State Museum NY Capital Building I Love NY
Bard College Fischer Center World Premeire Romeo and Juliet Culinary Instititue of America: Tour the CIA and attend a culinary demonstration (Cowboy Stew). CIA
New York City: Visit the Metropolitan Museum, United Nations, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Ellis Island, Wall Street, the World Trade Center, and South Street Seaport. NY City
Norman Rockwell Museum: View paintings by Norman Rockwell. His illustrations appeared on Saturday Evening Post Magaizne and depicted life in the United States from 1953-1978.
Tanglewood: Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. We will be attending a practice there.
West Point: The United States Military Academy is located at West Point. This is the US Army's military college.
